CPUC TCP license
A TCP license is the California Public Utilities Commission permit that legally authorizes a company to operate charter-party passenger vehicles for hire.
The California Public Utilities Commission regulates charter-party carriers of passengers. A valid TCP number requires commercial insurance filings, enrollment in the DMV pull-notice program for driver records, and participation in a controlled-substance and alcohol testing program for chauffeurs.
For a client, the licence is the verification layer: it confirms the operator's insurance is on file with the state and the chauffeur's driving record is monitored continuously. Corporate travel and risk-management teams typically require it before approving a ground provider.
